"This image is part of a larger series that was selected for an Honorable Mention in the 2010 International Photography Awards and focuses on the seven remaining 1930's-era stilted houses in Biscayne Bay known as “Stiltsville”. For over 80 years, they have stood as a modern-day Atlantis and are slowly becoming nothing more than myth themselves, as Mother Nature fights to reclaim them. They exist ten miles in the middle of Biscayne Bay with no running water, electricity, or permanent residents. Each house was photographed at night from the surrounding water, utilizing the highly specialized technique of "painting with light." Over the course of three hours, light was added into individual exposures using flashlights and layered together in post-production to create the final hyper-real effect."
